Next Up On the Night of Fashion – SAG Awards.
Updated: Oct 3, 2019
As promised, I had my fashionista hat on to watch Sunday’s SAG awards. I must admit that I am not as familiar with this awards show but if you want to get an insider feel of “the industry” as Hollywood is known, then this is the show to watch. Unfortunately, the actors seemed to let their hair down for this event so the fashion which was not as remarkable as the other awards shows but there were still some outstanding looks.
I will keep this review simple as it was all about silver which continues its top trending position. Now this was also the silver anniversary of the show so that may be a reason it got pushed to the top. Even winner Darren Criss went with a silver dinner jacket showing his fashion skills remain on point. That also made some of the A-listers stand out. Once again, Emily Blunt knocked it out of the park. Her gorgeous pink gown by Michael Kors had curvaceous ruffles in the front and the most interesting back I have seen in a while. Her entire look was flawless.
The only other color that really broke threw was red. Megan Mullaly had a wonderful fiery red dress for her hosting duties (thank god she didn’t change outfits constantly).
A trend we continue to see is the bow though in the smaller variety this time. Rachel Brosnahan, redeeming herself by playing it safe in silver (though the earrings were too much) showed off the small bows down the front of her dress. I also saw a few capes though it was too much for this awards show. Tulle continued its strong showing as did the over layering look (Lucy Boynton looking fabulous again).
Now to my award winners!
Best Dressed Woman: Emily Blunt
Runner Up: Mandy Moore
The line of silver at the top of her Jason Wu black gown was perfect.
Honorable Mention: Melissa McCarthy
She looked beautiful in the silver Iorane gown. Best I have seen her look at an awards show.
Worst Dressed Woman: Lupita Nyongo
I am only giving this to her over because it was such a shock. Not sure what she was trying to do but the hair is what really did it in for me.
Worst Dressed Woman Runner Up: Patricia Arquette
Though, she did have the best speech!
Most Over Use of a Tanning Machine: Robin Wright
Best Dressed Man: Chris Pine
He carried off the men’s trend of the white tux beautifully. This trend is growing on me given I just didn’t like it on Bradley Cooper.
Worst Dressed Man: Michael B. Jordan
Stop with the halter. It’s not working.
Best Recovery: Lady Gaga
White works for her and the outfit worked for this event.
